A really great info bible for the series. I know I want to work on this and have some different parts here and there. When I work on the setup for translations on the site I'm gonna revise and put things up.

Torrent does not include the novel that was included with the book. If anyone has the book or has any ways to maybe get a copy of it/etc., please chime in about that!

Here's the raw text for "The Relationship between Dio & Lucciola" on pages 142 - 143 in the torrent, as well as SOME of the "What is Dio Thinking?" text on pages 140 - 41, and finally Delphine and Cicada's profiles on pages 64 - 65. Please note that some of this text may be wrong so crosscheck it! This is an older file of mine and was one of the first attempts at me trying any kind of actual translation so the process was different and most likely probably lacking in places.

Here's all that fun fun text!!

And here is a summary I'm going to copy and paste. It's not a word for word translation as much as it's a main points of what's being said. I plan to go back to do proper stuff later. Though since the torrent is there anyone can do that. And again I'll ... work on setting up a nice looking thing for the site as well for TL specific things.
Spoiler
According to sources and the wiki-- Delphine killed her and Dio's father, Darius - something we know! Said sources and the wiki only mentioned Darius. The Chronicle books says that Delphine killed "their parents," which confirms the mother as well. And not only that, but a young Dio kind of saw it happen.

Obviously, after an ordeal like that, Dio was all kinds of emotionally fucked up -- and lonely. So Delphine decided to get him a servant, thinking that he was just lonely for his parents (but mainly really because he thought she was going to kill him too; she didn't know that he saw what she did). Lucciola was chosen specifically by Delphine for Dio, because he was Cicada's younger brother and thus had a strict upbringing. And Cicada to Delphine had shown a devout loyalty and possessed mad fighting skills and such. Lucciola was also chosen at an age one year lower than servants are usually chosen at-- probably because of the special case of Delphine needing someone to satiate Dio's loneliness as well as keep him safe from potential rebels as a result of the purge she made on the other Guild houses.

Dio gave Lucciola his name. Naming is apparently an Important Thing and a high honor for the servant class. I believe it mentions something about how "lower" people in the Guild don't really have names outside of what their jobs are? And a difference between being a "part" of the Guild and "a person" of the Guild with a name. And once named, they are required to pledge their absolute loyalty to whom they serve. And since Dio was more or less compliant to the Guild laws, Lucciola had no problems staying completely loyal to Dio because he wouldn't be going against anything Delphine didn't want Dio to do.

Of course, Delphine was possessive and cruel, so became jealous because Dio was instantly attached to Lucciola because he had been sad and lonely since his parents were killed and he liked him more than her. So she began to suspect Lucciola and wonder about his loyalty to her-- the Maestro. She didn't want to do anything to him like kill him because that would only make Dio worse, so she went about it in other ways. She'd make sure to take Lucciola aside to talk to interrogate him to ensure that he wasn't "straying". And did things to remind him of the power she had over them all -- one thing mentioned specifically was her not letting him eat as punishment (oh, hello series flashback scenes).

It goes on to say that the food plan ended up backfiring worse for Delphine, because the bond between Dio and Lucciola grew as a result of Dio doing things like sneaking him food.

In Lucciola's case, he made sure to be even more careful, keeping his personality, attitude and posture perfect to keep Delphine assured, since if he showed anything kind or familiar to Dio and she found out, she would kill him.

And in Dio's case, he was always interested in Lucciola's feelings, wanting to see how he really felt behind the very rigid posture he kept for himself. So he would always do crazy things to get reactions out of Lucciola, to see him look bothered, or sometimes angry, and sometimes maybe to even smile. For Dio doing things like that was easy because Dio was always the kind of selfish person to want to troll around and make things complicated.

Dio never had any interest in the politics of the Guild or anything like that, and preferred to just go and do whatever he felt like - ala how he did his own thing after the Horizon Cave race and went to the Silvana. When he disappeared, Delphine didn't really pay much mind, because she could always contact Lucciola wherever he was via his earring device to order him. (I'm not sure if it's contact him or track him -- it could be the latter, considering the things that came up in the latest Travelers chapter).

When Delphine did board the Silvana, non-compliance or attempted counters to her could have resulted in massacring the entire crew, so Lucciola followed her orders. Due to the strength Delphine took with her, they had no choice but to go-- which was why Lucciola was doing things like stopping Claus from doing anything stupid (when they went to Guild as well). Because Claus was important for Lucciola's plan to possibly free Dio after he was brainwashed. Lucciola also didn't expect Dio's brainwashing to be as deep as it was-- apparently Dio's was different from the norm and his personality had been completely reprogrammed.

When they were taken back to the Guild, and Lucciola made his decision-- he chose Dio over his dedication to Delphine because his friendship with Dio was more important to him. Giving up his life in order to protect those bonds was something that he was okay with. Delphine of course, was deceived-- she had taken Claus to the Guild because he appeared to be "the first friend Dio's ever had" which was why she asked Lucciola what he was to Dio in the end.

Oh god the way they worded this part-- okay, so when Lucciola responds with "I am Lord Dio's friend" he says it with pride. He could have lied and responded saying he was a servant to save his own life. Because he didn't want to betray his relationship with Dio, he responded how he did, and it clearly shows that Lucciola was a person, an individual who made the choice he did himself.[/quote]

Here's points of interest from Cicada's profile:
- When they mention Cicada and Lucciola being brothers, the term/phrase of "same genetic source" comes up. And they do mention genetic manipulation in general in the next paragraph.

- It talks about two ways to become a "Guild member." One is, obviously, being born into it. The other talks about educational and military institutions, where only the best are chosen from, but still just for lower class/servants. They came from "the ground" are are known as "apprentices" as they learn/train. And when the best of the best are chosen ... they get a test at 17, which, if failed, resulted in a mind-wipe which is what those Guilders with the weird makeup and chanting all are.

- Guild uniforms and ranks.

Maestro: Wears whatever they please.
Chief Agent (called Lorica, aka what Cicada is): Wears black
Next Maestro (also, what Dio SHOULD have been wearing): Wears black
Subordinates to Delphine (called Scutum, aka Delphine's other servants): Wear grey
Subordinates to Dio, also Delphine's maids (called Aspis): Wear grey
Everything else below that: Wear white.

HOWEVER. Dio, because he is the master troll, decided he liked wearing the white servant uniforms. And so not to dress as though they outrank him, Dio's servants all wore white as well, with silver collars. Dio's collar is gold to separate their ranks. Awesome job, Dio.

And finally, a couple of the What's Dio Thinking summaries:
"He's not good, but there's some sort of glimmer about him."
The way Claus was flying seemed to be reckless, not bound by any sort of rules. It also mentions Dio's birthday approaching -- and I think it says something along the lines of that he was looking for something to DO with himself to keep himself occupied, so Claus stood out.

"If I say your name is Immelmann, your name is Immelmann."
Something about how there are names in the Guild for people who are around on a regular basis (maybe referring to the earlier talk about how naming is important?). And how this was a fresh experience outside of the Guild-- maybe in that since it's not a Guild-regulated kind of naming/nicknaming it felt nicer to do?

"Lucciola get out, now!"
After being ignored by Claus, Dio was pissed off because nobody ever ignored him before, so reactionarily snaps because he's losing on top of that.

"It feels like I can touch the clouds!"

Dio has no sense of crisis-- there was an emergency happening and he ignored it to go up on deck. It also says that it might have felt like a feeling of freedom to Dio at the time.

"If it tastes good, you should let it show on your face, Lucciola!"
Dio's time spent on the Silvana meeting everyone helped him express his feelings better than he'd been able to before. He wants Lucciola to be able to have those feelings, too.

"Understood!"
Now that he's interacting with more people he can call friends, and being ordered around in general is something he's never had done to him before in that manner. So it's a fresh new experience for him that he's having fun with.

Aaaaand apparently a super nice email inspired me to do some translations. (I AM SO LAZY BUT SOMETIMES SO EASILY MOVED)

So here is Dio's page in the Chronicles artbook. (doing the next page with baby Dio and the Lucciola stuff next)
Dio Eraclea (16 years old)
Brother of the Guild's highest authority (Maestro), and himself a candidate for Maestro of the Guild, he has the status of Principal which is substantial as it's the next rank down. His personality is pure and unbridled, and he's full of curiosity. Since he is in a world where his desires can come true easily, even though he is not conscious of it himself, he is an innocent sort of selfish. He will stick his neck into just about anything, and loves anything he finds interesting.

However, the thing he doesn't have in his hands is "freedom," because of the sense of confinement he has in the Guild with its prim, clean rooms.
Dio puts his focus on flying the fighter aircraft as a means to find even a little bit of freedom, but also possesses a spatial grasp ability that is rare to have naturally, as well as kinds of air combat maneuvering which is not possible for ordinary Guild pilots to have that he has unconcernedly. But, this freedom from within the shackles of the Guild derived from the fighter aircraft was not true freedom.

Another one of his hobbies is devoting himself to chess. But because those in the Guild are known to avoid any internal negativity, they hold back against somebody in the Principal position as an opponent, and because he could see that it was due to his rank, he gradually reached a point where Lucciola was his only preferred opponent.

At such a time where he observed the free flying of Claus' vanship, he felt that there was a world that he did not know. So if he could fly with him, then something in the world he's never known could become visible, and believing that, he sortied in a Guild machine.

But after being too handy with the aircraft performance, as well as factors of Lavie's red-out, he regrettably couldn't play enough.

After that, he encountered Claus to participate in the Horizon Cave race. Because of the Horizon Cave race, he could compete with identical aircraft conditions, so challenged Claus to a rematch.

Dio, doing that with Claus remembered an excitement of "what's in store next," so haunted him so to speak to learn more of a new world that he did not know aside from his own. And from being in the Guild, because he had no experience with being disliked by somebody he took an interest in, that in itself was also a new surprise.

Lmao that was fast. Here's the next page!
Dio (Trial of Agon Clothing)
Subjected to mind alterations, Dio took the challenge of the Trial of Agon. The Mark of the Covenant is revealed, which had formerly been hidden, and changed just before the trial itself.
The pilot suit which had been everyday wear until now, which Dio also wore as a symbol for his longing of freedom was thrown away, and replaced with dress wear for swearing of allegiance to the Guild.

Dio (Childhood)
The time Dio met Lucciola.

Lucciola (17 years old)
Dio's attendant. He is a servant, and also has the role of a guard.
His personality is calm and composed, due to his consciously suppressing and crushing his feelings, so his natural personality seems to be something different. Because he is in a position of serving Dio, who is in a number two position in the Guild, he has superior body and martial arts skills, so is in the top class of strength even in the Guild.
As an attendant of Dio who does not know what to expect from him, while his nerves may get frayed, he regards it as more than a duty.

Lucciola (Childhood)
The time Lucciola was appointed as Dio's servant.

More Guild fun, here's Delphine's page.
Delphine Eraclea (24 years old)
The highest authority of the Guild known as the Maestro, and Dio's sister.

10 years ago, using Cicada as her confidant, she aimed to kill the 4 families of the Guild, taking the position of Maestro. Concurrently with performing an internal reform of the Guild, she created her own system with very thorough instructions. Originally, this reform was something considered by the then-present head of the Eracela family, but since he had gone off somewhere, the truth of this is unknown.

Her personality is selfish and egotistical. Her behavior is led by her own whims, and she believes that all of the world belongs to her.

She seized most of the world's science and technology, except the Claudia Units of the Silvana and Urbanus, and because she pulled everything under her control, she has tremendous power.

She is happy with her own epicurean life, not finding value in life other than her own. Her favorite flower is the red rose.

In fact, while the two are very different, some characteristics of Delphine and Dio are similar at their roots.

Heeeere's the next Delphine page/Cicada too.
Delphine (Young girl)
At the mere age of 15, Delphine caused a storm of bloodbaths inside the Guild, seizing control of it.
Alex, who was hit by the self-defense devices of a Guild battleship, was watched expressly by her with her vulgar tastes, which never changed from this point in time.
She also favored red roses at this age.

Cicada (31 years old)
A close aide in Delphine's entourage.

For Delphine's aides, their classes are divided by the colors they wear. Lorica wears black and is the highest ranking, followed by the gray-wearing Scutum, and then Aspis in white.

Cicada is the only one appointed to Lorica, possessing the strongest body and martial arts skills in the Guild.

Although he seems level-headed and always has an air of calm around him, he is inherently a violent person, and uses his strong will due to his loyalty to the Guild to hold that down. In order to maintain the Guild's system, he will perform any action, even hostily eliminating his own siblings without hesitation.

Delphine calls Lucciola and Cicada "brothers," based on the fact that the two are from the same genetic base. Therefore, there's only a thin feeling of real consciousness about being brothers, and there is also the fact that his and Lucciola's attention are on other things.

Cicada and Lucciola were both born in the Guild, their existences to be the absolute best aides created with genetic manipulation from the very start.

In addition, there are two ways to become a Guild member.

One is simply being born in the Guild. The other is through an educational institute on the ground operated by the Guild (these are educational institutes other than schools or academys for the aristocracy, as these are Guild operated only) where only excellence is to be determined, and just those are selected from there.

In the latter case, those transferred to the Guild from the ground become trainees, identified as apprentices, and receive hands-on training and education of unit management. Those who are more determined to move up can participate in a pledge ritual at the age of 17.

Those who fail the pledge ritual are put through conditioning that cuts off all but mechanical thinking, and become unit managers.

Additionally, the clothes of the aides beneath Cicada can also become a pilot suit. That is to say, among Guild members who are close aides to Delphine and Dio are all pilots of Guild aircrafts.

It should be noted, Dio's rank is not one that primarily wears white clothes, he wears them because he personally selected it due to his preference. Originally, the white outfit reflects a position beneath most of the other aides, so currently, Dio's aides are recognized as "those who wear white."

More Guildies! First page aaaaaaaand second page.
Coccinella (19 years old)
Took the pledge ritual at the same time as Lucciola, his rank is Aspis.
Along with Lucciola and Apis, he was appointed as one of Dio's aides.
Due to his quiet personality, and the fact that he has Delphine's trust, he's one of the people Lucciola finds most reliable.
Lucciola, because of their similar positions, interacted with him and formed a system to secretly protect Dio, but...
His name means "ladybug."

Apis (19 years old)
Like Coccinella, he's in the same place as Lucciola, and equally tough as part of Aspis. Unlike the slightly more easygoing Coccinella, he has a bad mouth and relatively short temper.
He often speaks harshly, though he himself isn't a malicious person, and while the depths of Coccinella and Lucciola can't be truly known in comparison, his own roots are simple and straightforward.
His name means "bee."

Dorcus (29 years old)
One of Delphine's aides, and part of the medium-sized Scutum rank.
He's very effective and adaptable, his thought being the only thing he needs to do is silently follow any of Delphine's orders. So he's a strange person of little character.
His name means "stag beetle."

Phalaena (28 years old)
One of Delphine's aides in Scutum. His face does not match his recklessness.
He too much moves headlong into his goals by taking advantage of his light body, and then struggles to put a brake on himself.
His name means "moth."

Allomyrina (26 years old)
Although younger than Dorcus, he was promoted to Scutum from a fighting faction of Aspis.
He often acts together with Dorcus, and prefers to fight on the front lines.
His name means "beetle."

Ephemera (23 years old)
An aide who is slightly young compared to the others. He is sent to the periphery of Dio often, rather than just Delphine, so is in a relatively neutral position. His rank is Aspis.
His name means "mayfly."
Nix
Both a handmaiden and close aide of Delphine's, her rank is Aspis.
It it said the pattern on her clothes represents the appearance of this world.
Her name means "snow."

Pluvia
Like Nix, she is also one of Delphine's maids as well as a member of Aspis.
Similar to the others, she has flying capabilities for the Guild fighters, though only sorties when there are no other pilots to.
Her name means "rain."
While the male aides are named after insects, females are given names after weather.

Guild Member
Those who are wiped of their personality, these people of the Guild maintain and manage the Guild units as their only mission.
They are not away of their sense of selves, and blindly follow the instructions of the higher ranked technical officials, even situations where their lives end are followed silently.

Here's the two-page on "What's Dio Thinking?" - Page 1 and Page 2.

(LAUGHING SO HARD AT THE (?) AFTER "WOO" like yes. Yes Dio likes boys you don't need to (?) his horrible attempts at flirting)
Column 18 - What's Dio Thinking?
Dio, who longs for freedom. What does he see in Claus, and how does it change him?
It's possible to follow at his words and actions, to look at the situation.

"Lucciola, there's something indescribable about a corpse."
Going to recover the data from a downed Guild fighter craft, he suddenly says this. The Guild pilot who was killed wore white clothes, and seemed to be somebody who reported to Dio. However, he was more interested in his corpse rather than his death, indicating a eccentric trait of Dio. Here he sees a recording of Claus, and becomes interested.

"They're doing their best, despite not knowing whether she's the real thing or not."
Dio, always experiencing the sense of stagnation in the Guild, always waited for an opportunity to go out. At that time, the "Al capture strategy" was in the process of being conducted. Since that was an important strategy for the Guild, Dio being a Principal boarded one of the Guild ships to witness it. As can be seen from this dialogue, he does not have too much of an interest in the strategy itself, but was there for the purpose of going out.

"He's not very good, but there's some sort of glimmer about him."
Watching Claus fly as he sortied, there was a sense of daring not normally seen in the Guild, so he expressed it as being a "glimmer." Not being bound by any rules, there was a sense of raw dynamism to his flying, or was it some sort of exaggeration? But looking at the form, there was something different that he had never seen until then, and certainly felt like something that might change him before his birth week. That's why Dio chose to sortie in his own Guild machine.

"Now, what should I do to make this fun?"
Though Dio says this when he sorties, the words plainly indicate that all of these acts to him is like playing. Silvana and the surrounding area, the exchanging of life happening, even the situation of the Guild's side actually taking damage. However, Dio doesn't seem to care in the slightest about the possibility of being killed. On the contrary, he shows enough of an allowance to hold himself back against Claus.

"Hehe, I wonder when we'll meet again?"
Dio's Guild machine and Claus' unit five machine have too much of a performance difference. Under these conditions, Claus managed to almost take him from behind once, which was a very big surprise to Dio. This developed into an interest to want to compete under equal conditions against Claus.

"If I say it's Immelmann, it's always going to be Immelmann."
For reuniting with Claus, this name was naturally attached to him by Dio who referred to him this way. In the Guild with he and Delphine, it's shown that on a routine basis, names are given to other people. And this action being disliked, unlike how it is in the Guild, was also a fresh new experience.

"He ignored me?"
Dio participated in the race under equal conditions. From him having first remarked "let's play," he saw the entire race as something of a game between two people. Therefore the pilot who disturbed his play with Claus was eliminated mercilessly. In Tatiana's case, he also told her "don't get in my way," showing that he was looking for a certain sort of spice for his happy play. But upon going out to play, Claus ignored Dio, so his attitude changed.

"Lucciola, get out, now!"
After being ignored by Claus, Dio is driven by an impulse from an experience he never had before. A person existing in this world who ignored him was a surprise, but also angered him. Along with being ignored, there was the fact that he wanted to leave a strong impression on Claus, who was ignoring him for a second time, so this was on Dio's mind. So such a line came out involuntarily against Lucciola, as he was blind to everything else around him. But, Claus defeated Dio in the end, and this inevitably led to an even stronger desire to carve an impression into him, so he went together with him to the Silvana.

"Keep it a secret from Delphine."
The world of the Guild is clean and uncluttered, and equal to a prison for Dio. However, the Silvana does not have the same aesthetics that Delphine enjoys. Looking at Alex's room, perhaps he was the one who could help free him from Delphine? Thinking that, he secretly told him the Mysterion.
"I mean, if this things goes down, you'll be dead for sure."
These words indicate that the Guild fighters have a high capacity for shock absorption, which means these words manifest into respect for vanship piloting that have no means of cushioning like that, making it quite a dangerous aircraft.

"Amazing, amazing!"
What Dio says when he confirms whether or not Al is the real "key." As a result, Al was in fact the real thing. This indicated that there was a possibility that the Silvana could stand up to Delphine. Originally, Dio had "gone out" with a light heart, so perhaps something moved within him when he noticed this possibility.

"I can almost touch the clouds!"
Without worrying about the emergency announcement just before the battle began, Dio congregated to the deck. Without any sense of an impending crisis, going outside to experience the sea of clouds interested him considerably more. For the clouds that couldn't be grabbed or held onto, it was probably a symbol of freedom for Dio. Unable to feel that way in the Guild, the euphoric feeling he got from extending his hand was like a glimpse to freedom.

"No, I won't die, Lucciola."
It seems that Dio believes from the bottom of his heart that he won't die. By the way, this dialogue is under the condition that he's not in a Guild observational ship with a safety function and fighter aircrafts. Also, the Guild pilot suits themselves appear to have been made with some sort of protection against falling from heights.

"Hey! How long has it been, a whole day?"
A strange way to greet, seemingly of his nature, or did he learn it on the Silvana? It could be said that such a unique sense of language is the essence of Dio. As well as stirring up tricks in this place, which is an act that another person can't really imitate. Finding Alex's room, he took the photograph as a means to start some kind of conversation, but it turned into a serious incident, so it looks like Dio didn't consider much when he did it.

"You and I are shooting stars."
Said by Dio to woo(?) Claus. Despite being in the middle of a strategy briefing, he completely ignored the atmosphere of the place. Dio still only understood other people to an extent, but unfortunately for Claus as one of the people he was familiar with, the basics are still as 'my pace' for him as ever.

"When something tastes good, you have to let it show on your face, Lucciola!"
Through Claus, Dio learned how to better express his own feelings. He wants to teach this sort of joy to Lucciola, and that feeling is reflected in this line.

"I was just ordered to do something!"
Naturally, Dio never received any sort of order from birth. However, it's now possible for him to embrace it. Regarding Claus, he thought he only left an impression on him until now. But while being on the Silvana, and remembering that he socialized with Claus and his friends, he had made "friends" for the first time on the Silvana. By opening his heart to others, he experienced being accepted rather than adored by others, which was a new exciting feeling for Dio.

"Roger!"
After receiving an answer that he liked considerably, Dio repeated "roger!" frequently. The experience of taking orders from others was new, and he enjoyed that sort of exchange between "friends."

"I don't know!"
Dio doesn't have as much experience as a navi. Although he conveyed tips to Claus as they flew in the Grand Stream, he didn't bother to respond decently to anybody else but Claus. Although he could have been expected to ignore it instead of replying, he's come to accept replying to someone else's orders without any resistance.
