Dio Eraclea (16 years old)
Brother of the Guild's highest authority (Maestro), and himself a candidate for Maestro of the Guild, he has the status of Principal which is substantial as it's the next rank down. His personality is pure and unbridled, and he's full of curiosity. Since he is in a world where his desires can come true easily, even though he is not conscious of it himself, he is an innocent sort of selfish. He will stick his neck into just about anything, and loves anything he finds interesting.

However, the thing he doesn't have in his hands is "freedom," because of the sense of confinement he has in the Guild with its prim, clean rooms.
Dio puts his focus on flying the fighter aircraft as a means to find even a little bit of freedom, but also possesses a spatial grasp ability that is rare to have naturally, as well as kinds of air combat maneuvering which is not possible for ordinary Guild pilots to have that he has unconcernedly. But, this freedom from within the shackles of the Guild derived from the fighter aircraft was not true freedom.

Another one of his hobbies is devoting himself to chess. But because those in the Guild are known to avoid any internal negativity, they hold back against somebody in the Principal position as an opponent, and because he could see that it was due to his rank, he gradually reached a point where Lucciola was his only preferred opponent.

At such a time where he observed the free flying of Claus' vanship, he felt that there was a world that he did not know. So if he could fly with him, then something in the world he's never known could become visible, and believing that, he sortied in a Guild machine.

But after being too handy with the aircraft performance, as well as factors of Lavie's red-out, he regrettably couldn't play enough.

After that, he encountered Claus to participate in the Horizon Cave race. Because of the Horizon Cave race, he could compete with identical aircraft conditions, so challenged Claus to a rematch.

Dio, doing that with Claus remembered an excitement of "what's in store next," so haunted him so to speak to learn more of a new world that he did not know aside from his own. And from being in the Guild, because he had no experience with being disliked by somebody he took an interest in, that in itself was also a new surprise.
